Eyes Scrunched Shut?
There was no mistaking two-year old Jessica
was angry with her grandfather. Her rigid body prostrate on
the floor was a pretty good indication. With a gentle laugh,
the grandfather swooped up the fuming toddler in his arms,
gave her kisses and spoke lovingly to her. But she scrunched
shut her little eyes, lifted her chin and ignored him. In her
immature mind, he was dismissed.
Have you ever been angry with G-d? Really angry?
All of us have experienced the disappointment that takes the
emotional slide into anger. Perhaps there’s an expectation
that has dragged on for years? Or a hurt so deep we question
G-d’s sovereignty?
It’s easy to justify our right to hold on to these emotions;
however, in holding on to them, we are closing our eyes. Just
as Jessica’s childish mind lacked the understanding of
her grandfather’s love and authority, perhaps we aren’t
seeing our heavenly Father’s hand in an area because
we haven’t realized our eyes are scrunched tight.
G-d is holding us in His arms right now. He’s lovingly
speaking to our spirits. We need but open our eyes.
Oh,
Abba, I want to open my eyes to anything keeping me from
seeing You and Your great love for me. Please reveal,
by Your Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit, any areas where
I am disappointed and angry about Your will. I trust
in Your sovereignty, wisdom and love. In Yeshua’s
Name. Amen.
